Hunger Games

Pictou Academy Hunger Games

The students of Pictou Academy have done it again! They have completed another Hunger Games to help stock the shelves at the Pictou Food Bank. Students were asked to bring in non-perishable food items, as well as monetary donations to designated teachers for their grade level.  Point values were assigned so that the food needed most by the food bank held the highest value. Points were awarded accordingly and the mean point value per student in each grade was reported. The grade level with the highest mean point value wins the Hunger Games. This year the grade 12 students won the Hunger Games with an astounding 32.3 pts per student! All students gathered a phenomenal 1093 items to donate to the food bank, as well as $62.  As an incentive, the grade with the  highest collection had the opportunity to throw a pie in the face of a staff member.
